Not sure I really understand pricing for MS SCE07, but from what I can figure,
it's a bit much for a single server situation. Would be nice if there was a way
to purchase Intel's SMS3 (that's included with the new boards).

Gene,

Also check out

for other Intel software you can use.

Gene,

I believe one of my clients has that CD. I'll be there tomorrow and will check
and let you know.

Any new server will have the new Intel System Management software which will
include a one server version of System Center Essentials 2007.

Subject: Intel Server Manager 8 - Lost CD

New Employee at this small, single server, company. Working on disaster
recovery procedures. Noticed that the CD for ISM8 is missing (unable to locate
after a week of searching), and the software was never installed.
Would like to monitor temps and fan speeds. Having an ongoing email
conversation with Intel (less than helpful). Intel has no way for me to
download ISM8, nor do they have any other possible alternative or suggestion.
Apparently even though this platform came out in August of 2004, (and was
purchased in April of 2006) support is discontinued. I did check with the
vender, at that time they did not have the software (they might in the future -
but our relationship is up in the air).
1. Even though I feel the need to install ISM8 or some other basic hardware
monitoring software, should I do this?
2. Any suggestions on obtaining ISM8 or other software similar (we might get a
second server in late 2009 - doubt it)?
3. Funny thing is, I can download ISM5, though according to the docs, it does
not support our serverboard.

Some details;
Intel Server SC5300AF2 (SC5300LXNA chassis with SE7520AF2 serverboard) Windows
Server Standard 2003 R2

TIA
