Because you are using "software raid" which is fugly:)
When Bart starts, press F6 and load the *specific* driver for your controller.

Subject: HostRAID expansion question

This is sort of part two to my HostRAID question brought up a while ago.

I have a 250GB partition on two 500GB drives in a RAID 1. The 500GB drives
replaced two 250GB drives. The RAID software will not allow me to "expand" the
mirror to 500GB. My only option it seems to the backup the data, delete the old
mirror and recreate the mirror which will give me the full 500GB. From here I
can restore the backup.

The problem is, I used a BartPE disc to boot up the server but once I got to
the desktop, I see all the drives in the RAID as individual drives. This
concerns me because 1) I don't why this is happening and 2) It means once I
create the 500GB RAID mirror, BartPE it will see those drives as individual
also when I do the restore. It makes me think I will have to restore twice.
Which makes me wonder how the RAID hardware will react to that. I'm not sure
how to proceed at this point as I seem to be in a catch 22. I can't do the
restore while the server is live as there are too many dependencies on services
and other things for this volume. My only thought it my Bart disc is using the
ICH8R driver instead of the IHC5R which is on the server. Any direction here
would be appreciated.
