after rereading... in brier

If you are talking about video conferencing and H.323 some of your
options are
polycom
Tanberg
lifesize
or other similar companies or products.

If you are talking about web conferencing and H.120, some of your options are
webex
adobe connect
live meeting
I think yugma is a web conferencing solution.
there are others i cannot remember, but there is a ton of them.

video conferencing
good video and now adequate pc resolution
with HiDef, excelent pc resolution.

web conferencing
bad video and adequate (sometimes) audio
good pc resolution

if you are going with web conferencing you will need a server to
connect 3 or more people together. Plus it is a good idea to have
the server setup so they can test their audio before hand. I would
not rely on the video.

With video conferencing you can enable (for a price) up to 3 sites on
specific systems.

Advantages of video conferencing.
hardware specific, the most you have to worry about is somebody
disconnecting the system to watch soap operas on the TV.

Disadvantage.
high initial cost for hardware.
adequate pc resolution, but with more money and buying a HiDef
system, this can be overcome.
need for higher bandwidth, 768K upload is our minimum, 1.5M recommended.
need to configure the firewall, but it is not a problem as long as
your firewall guy knows something.

advantages of web conferencing
can run on any pc or probalby Mac
more flexible
can run on lower bandwidth if you are not concerned about video

disadvantages
not good video
sometime bad audio
have to deal with whatever is on the users computer, weather bug,
viruses, domain, etc.

You can use netmeeting or other software solutions to connect to a
h.323 conference, but most bridge operators do not want to bother
with troubleshooting your pc. Our bridge has h.120 turned off so
they dont have to deal with too many pc problems.

We use polycom systems and the users seem pretty happy with it and
our customers are starting to use it a lot more. We also are running
most of our conferences over the commodity internet. The universitty
has a MGC100 polycom bridge that we use for multiple sites.
We also use Adobe connect, (it used to be called breeze) for some
training and meetings. We have the university server to use to setup
multiple sites.

The real problem is that IP, a connectionless protocol, was never
developed to be the universal protocol. ATM was developed to serve
that purpose and failed.
