I'll reply to my own post since no one else did... I found one major issue that I didn't think to address until a co-worker pointed it out: make sure nothing is pointing to the DNS server on the DCs you are about to decommission. We suddenly realized there are a bunch of non-windows and non-domain devices pointing to the DNS servers in the domain we are trying to decomm. That would have been bad... -Brian
