Yup, that was me. In what is probably going to be the greatest coincidence of my professional career, about a month after that thread, our marketing department procured a few hundred USB flash drives with our company logo printed on them, as SWAG for customers. They feature a hardware write protect switch. Completely unasked. I wasn't involved in that project, and indeed, was unaware of it until they showed up one day. The marketing girl didn't even know they had the feature; she just liked the shape/look of that design. I'm saving your find for later, though; I'm sure these won't last forever.
