Normally Simply Accounting doesn't cause me too much grief. In this case other techs were trying to solve the problem before me. They also overcomplicated the original issue by upgrading from 2008 to 2009 and not reporting an earlier server crash.
Here's how I fixed the problem: - Shut down all instances of Simply - Restarted the Simply Connection Manager on the server for good measure - Started Simply via the shortcut on the desktop - From within Simply opened the appropriate company - Made sure all workstations were running the same version Problem solved. Various users were trying to do strange things like double clicking on Simply files or opening files with the wrong version of Simply. Both of these are bad ideas. I have never yet had a problem installing Simply on a workstation. Terminal Server isn't supported by Simply or at least wasn't supported last time I checked. I would say 90% of my clients run Simply Accounting in some form or another and most are pretty happy with it. 2008 and 2009 are a bit more of a pain due to the MySQL database and the Connection Manager. No big deal though. Make sure the firewall in the workstation is disabled. If you'd like to take that part of the discussion off list I'd be happy to discuss it further.
