How is the network "touched"? My own Vista Home machine goes through our
SSL appliance. Then I do an RDP connection to my office desktop (or
directly to servers I need to watch), and all is well.

Note that, as this is a home OS, it is also not a domain member.

The Boss has a Vista HoitiToiti on his laptop, and it is a domain member.
At one time he could connect remotely as a domain member and run his apps
directly. (Then the appliance urged him to apply a security patch. It
certainly was secure! Now he can't do this anymore, but Vista is not to
blame for this one...)
