Go into Perc controller, break the raid array, set them all to single span
raid0 (single drives) and you should be able to wipe them accordingly.

Also, grab bart pe (ubcd4win.com) which has perc drivers built in, a gui,
and has dariks boot/nuke as well as a few other DoD style deleting apps.

Subject: Dell 4200 RAID to JBOD

Greetings!

I have a Dell PE-4200 that needs to be hauled away. I'd like to run DBAN
(Darik's Boot and Nuke) on it first. The docs say it doesn't support RAID
but to turn the RAID into a JBOD with the BIOS utilities...

I have 4 original books for the server. Despite being "a guy", I've been
trying to read them to see how to do this. A few things have hinted that
the 6 drives will work without the PERC. I tried by-passing the PERC by
plugging the array cable directly into the MB's SCSI port (shown in the
books). Thing is, I'm having problems getting BIOS to find the disks. I
even tried pulling the PERC, hoping to get BIOS utilities from the MB BIOS
rather than the PERC BIOS - no good.

I'm going to hook the PERC back up and see if any utiliies will
re-configure the array into a JBOD. Then I'm going into The Back Room to
see if I can find a Dell PE-4200 "Server Assistant" CD.

Any other hints, other than to forget DBAN and hit the drives with a drill
press?

Thanks!
