Hmmm, a thought just occurred to me: Create a "dummy" service on your GP management/editing computer, matching the service you want to control, but not actually starting a real executable. That should let GPEDIT see the service and generate the GPO settings needed, in a fully-supported way, without subjecting yourself to the full install of unwanted software. I think Microsoft provided a tool that would let you turn any executable into a service, that should be able to create the dummy entry, I would think. If you need an actual executable to make the tools work, copy WINVER.EXE or something to the name and location of the unwanted software. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
