I use Host Monitor (www.ks-soft.net<http://www.ks-soft.net>), I monitor services, CPU, disk space, event logs (incl. the previously mentioned install of apps, etc), services, on both servers and PC's. It's also agentless if that's a preference. They have a replication tool so you configure a test for one system, replicate it for any number of other systems.
On the PC's I use it to make sure the anti-virus and automatic updates services are running, among other things.
