I do know that it has mucho logic designed to not impact "user experience" while file transfers are ongoing. DFS R2 is a BITS server. It can be securely exposed (so say the white papers), but I've never done it. I'm not qualified to compare BITS to BT, but I think it's a "neato" technology to have built-in to Windows. I dunno if BITS was intended for that kind of massive share swarm, high-speed transfer though. BitTorrent has caused a lot of cheap routers and network drivers to fail under the load it can generate.
