Most versions of Outlook insert "hard" line breaks to wrap lines in all plain text messages you send. It tries to do this at spaces, but if there aren't any spaces (like in a URL), it will just chop up the line. (Most other mail programs will leave long lines intact if there aren't any spaces to wrap on.)
