IPP on port 9100. Open on the firewall, restrict by IP, add the printer directly into the TS as a local printer with the Public IP:9100.
As far as bandwidth, theres not a lot you can do, the best bet is to use higher quality printers which will keep the print job smaller. Deskjets for example have no ram, so a 1 page print job could be like 400k whereas the same page to a laserjet might be about 50k. If neither of those work, look at Screwdrivers from tricerat. I used to use several of their products for ts environments and they always worked well. If all that fails, you can look at the new printing capabilities of 2008 TS with Vista, which does similar to screwdrivers.
