It sounds like it could be permission, but strange that it would only be from one or two location--Make sure the share they are connecting through is also full control permissions (I can't tell if you just checked NTFS) for the "Everyone" group so that the folder can be created. MS has several good references on required permissions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/274443/ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775853.aspx?ppud=4 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/232692 I did a lot of testing on our end when we first set it up and found that the share has to be everyone-doesn't work right if I restrict it down to other groups. As long as your NTFS is set right, it shouldn't be an issue-ABE helps too. Only other things I can think of: A) Make sure you don't have something else on those servers trying to take the same physical drive letter H: B) Confirm the info on the users' TS Tabs in AD is correct (not typo'd), as it will use that when logging on via TS. C) Check GPOS that apply to TS users specific to folder redirection D) Check the environment variables on those servers to make sure they are defined and expanding correctly -Bonnie From: Gavin Wilby [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, January 16, 2009 2:00 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Group Policy Folder re-direction error. Hi, Im starting to see this error on a single site of mine and wondered what the list thought of it: "Failed to perform redirection of folder My Documents. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%, the final expanded path was \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%. The following error occurred: The specified path is invalid." Now that seems pretty clear to me what the errror is, but, if I look at the user account, they have an h: drive mapped to \\server1\users\%username%<file:///\\server1\users\%25username%25> If I log on AS the user and connect to \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%<file:///\\%25homeshare%25%25homepath%25\> (as in, start, run, enter that, hit return) it opens the right explorer window. I have checked the permissions and its Full Control for the user. Now, it NEVER happens to anyone that logs in on a workstation that then connects to the domain - but it *does* occur when users log into the Terminal Server. But I have just noticed it again where one of the admins had logged into the web server and the web server logged the same error, although, again, manually going to the share was no issue. Any ideas? WinXP clients. SBS2003 Server. The Webserver is a 2000 server.
