Define "Image"? What do you want to boot? You can do:
-diskless linux with an nfs moutned root -diskless windows (only some flavours) with an iSCSI or AoE mounted system volume. -simply pxe load a small kernel into ram and run linux right from ram, I did this with rdesktop for net booted thin clients.
