Clothes. All new parents appreciate clothes. And you don't have to get the 0-3 month sizes, you can buy for later ages/sizes. Our friends (with kids) bought clothes for our daughter to grow into, while family tended to by clothes she would need right away. It was nice to have a ready set of clothes when our daughter outgrew a stage.
