The cause can be either deliberate or accidental. In this case, it might be a software change or data entered into a database. I trust Google to have pretty solid protection against global problems caused by data entry errors and also regression testing of software changes. To me, that leaves a deliberate change as the most likely. We'll hear more fairly soon. In the meantime, I see the problem has been fixed. Hmmm. I see Google uses stopbadware.org to identify sites with problems. Maybe the failure was there? http://eajournal.wordpress.com/2009/01/31/google-search-errors-created-from- stopbadwareorg-outage/ Steve ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martin Blackstone" <[email protected]> To: "NT System Admin Issues" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 31, 2009 10:10 AM Subject: RE: Somebody at google hit the vodak too hard last night > Where is the appearance of hacking?
