Simple file sharing must be enabled to give you the "make this folder private" feature. But that privacy feature doesn't cause a password prompt for the drive or folder. it simply blocks access for those who are not yourself. Used to be able to do this: Select the folder you wish to encrypt. Right-click the folder and click Properties. Click the Sharing tab. Check the box Make this folder private Click Apply and then Ok. Not sure if this was for Windows XP Home only but do not see it in Windows XP Pro.
