The last time I saw that was with a .NET patch and eventually I just rebooted and applied the patch later. If you need to use the box - then reboot. You'll probably be OK. No guarantees of course.

Click Install Updates and ShutDown from the security dialogue box on a Windows 2003 SP2 server, and it is taking about three hours to install. Users are able to access the server, but obviously when the updates finish the box is going to shut down, and transactions might be lost. My thought would be kill the box now and reboot to LKG, but just wondering if anyone has seen this recently and has any ideas as to what is causing this.
