You also need to install from the Microsoft media not the OEM media.
I have kicked myself about a dozen times for taking the shortcut and letting
the OEM
media stay on a box, build it up with all my apps, sysprep it, ghost it,
then bring up my first pc and the pc
gets stuck on the product key screen and nothing will work. Even calls to
PSS don't help. They
just have me put in the Microsoft XP CD and start fresh.
Just remember a clean install is your friend.

If you have a volume license key, you should be able to utilize that if
the media you are making your workstation images and syspreping them
from is the volume License Media. It should take the License key and you
should be straight. As long as you have paided for the workstation
licenses, it should be cosher.

We have a volume licence key for windows xp
Can I use this to install all my machines from a sysprepped image,
All the machines are Dell desktops and have a windows xp license, or is
there a legalise requirement that I must use the Dell Cd and dell key ?
