The ability that OCS brings when it comes to tying a VOIP system to 
Outlook/Office has enormous business benefit if you do much outbound calling. 
I'm pretty sure that most people at our company wouldn't know how to dial their 
phone using the actual touchpad anymore if they had to.

IM can be done for free using any number of clients.  The cost of OCS vs 
business functionality gained doesn't make sense for my organization so 
therefore, not really necessary to keep business functioning.
