The barcode scanners are just keyboards... I'd recommend the less
expensive USB ones, like this one (which we have had 4 of, and only 1
die in the past 3 years):

As for Asset Inventory software, We're looking at RedBeam.

Don't use Fixed Assets by RioScan. While it's a good peice of software,
the company actualy has been gone for quite a few years, and the
software is showing it's age. We're still stuck using it, and that's why
we're looking at a different software like RedBeam.

We purchase our labels premade.
