I agree , and I blame all software that compell you to activate only through 
the Internet

  The software won't "activate" without an Internet connection.
Symantec says phone activation is not possible.  As the software was destined 
for stand-alone computers with no outside connectivity, it can't be used.  This 
wasn't listed in the product requirements.  I'm currently fighting with 
customer service to get my money back.

  So, right, Symantec still sucks.  In other news, water still wet, sky still 
blue.
