Wouldn't consider trusting that article either - I see a few errors in it. Thanks, Brian Desmond [email protected]

First hit: Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine Online | Feature Article: Active Directory Answers: <br> How to Defrag NTDS.DIT http://mcpmag.com/Features/article.asp?EditorialsID=167 There may be some reasons you wish to defragment the NTDS.DIT file, but none of them should be for speed. Defragging the NTDS.DIT file probably won't help your AD queries go any faster in the long run. One reason you might want to defrag your NTDS.DIT file is to save space. Remember, normally the currently used space is earmarked for recycling for additional records, not reclaimed or shrunk. If you deleted a huge number of records at one time, say, at the end of a school year to clear out the current class, you could defragment the directory and get an accurate count of how much space you're actually using. -- Angus Scott-Fleming GeoApps, Tucson, Arizona USA http://geoapps.com/ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~
