This process works for us using T41s and T400s (with and without docking
stations) with no issues - either with or without the IBM Presenter s/w
being installed (although the presenter s/w allows you to quick switch
between various configurations - mirror or extended, and the position of
the screens).

Infact on a T41 in a dock, you can can span between the DVI and VGA
sockets, and not need to use the LCD screen on the laptop at all.

We use Dell D620's with the docking station and external monitors. Using
the video settings, they can have dual screens, one on the laptop and
one on the external. Kind of a poor man's dual screen.

I was using VNC's PCHelpWare, and could not enable the second monitor in
the video card.

If you're doing it over remote desktop I expect all the relevant UI for
this is disabled.

It should work fine though - have to check the extend desktop button for
the secondary monitor.

My cousin, in another state, has a HP 6535b laptop with docking station.

Is there a way to enable dual monitor support between an attached LCD
hanging off the docking station, and the laptop LCD?

I have remoted into his box, and tried enabling the 2nd monitor via ATI
Catalyst software, but no luck so far
