Bitsadmin was first in the XPSP1 support tools updates IIRC. Currently
it's in at least the 2K3 Support tools and built-in on vista.

I'm no IIS person but I believe that the bits extensions are there to
support uploads, bits was download only in v1, in 1.5 they introduced
upload capability which required IIS with the extensions.

That's from memory as I haven't really fussed with bits since the SUS
days....except on my home machine to estimate how long or how much stuff
I was getting from Windows/Microsoft update.

I'm not having problems with WSUS, I'm having problems determining if
the clients are hogging up a T1 line with updates due to BITS not
throttling correctly.

I was unable to find BITSADMIN.EXE on my WSUS server, and then I
discover BITS server extensions aren't installed for IIS...I'm assuming
w/out that installed BITS can't work, or is that just for IIS specific
stuff? The WSUS server is running the BITS service....or is that just
the client side?

Confused,

Dave

WindowsUpdate.log file should probably be the first point of call for
checking issues with WSUS

bitsadmin.exe /list /allusers would tell you current jobs and status

I'd enable logging on the client if going down that route.

Cheers

Ken

Oh! Who knew! LOL. Would I do this on the WSUS server, or an each
client? Would these steps apply as far as WSUS is concerned?

Does anyone know of a method to test if BOTS is actually working between
point A and point B?
