Will do. I will have to do some serious investigating.

Please let us know if you find something. I'd love to have something like
this, but I don' t know of anything on the low end that does either block
level de-dupe or single instance. We have a Data Domain box that is
absolutely fantastic, but it was much more than a few grand.

Subject: Data deduplication and remote storage

I'm looking at trying to add some more network storage in the not too
distant future. I was thinking of getting a NAS for reliability, and I just
read about Seagate's offering. But I got to thinking about the problems I'm
having currently with data duplication and I'm concerned about the data
growing out of control again.

I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions / recommendations on a NAS
that includes data de-duplication? I'm looking in the low Terabyte range
(2-3 Tb) as I don't foresee data growth expanding that much, especially if
we use something to ensure we don't have multiple copies of the same thing
stored in three or four different places.. My budget for this is probably
$2-3,000 max (not that I *have* a budget as such! <G>)

Thanks,
