You can also get a low end Netscreen (or what ever it is called today) for a few hundred dollars.
I have a 172.16.X.X and a 10.1.1.X separated with a Netscreen 25. If you need to firewall off a group of users you need a real enterprise-grade firewall, not cheap consumer crap. A PIX 506E in only a couple hundred USD these days and will blow a Linksys out of the water in terms of performance and reliability. If you're using the Linksys as a basic router (no NAT, no firewall, etc) you really really need to get an enterprise-grade L3 switch - HP 2900 or HP 3400cl or Cisco 3550.
