I have run FreeNAS as an ISCIS target before, connecting with the built in MS ISCSI initiator. Feature set I was impressed by, performance, not so much. Of course I had like 5 20GB IDE drives in a JBOD array in a p3-933 box.
It was Cool - just not something I'd put into real production. Maybe if I had some decent disk it would have been better. It's very limited but check out starwind software http://www.starwindsoftware.com/product-chart. A 2GB maximum drive /total shared is pretty tiny for the free version. OpenFiler is free and doesn't have those limitations, but does not run on Windows.
