This is on my new iPhone... so no jailbreak. My son has not jailbroken his
either. No need to fool with that right now... :)

I believe it as ActiveSync causing the drain.

Mine's off and on with the Battery life depends on what I run I do always have
my WIFI / Bluetooth off when im not using it and make sure I have a good
signal spot when I leave the phone anywhere since it will keep searching. Your
son's phone isn't Jailbreaked by any chance? If it is he might have loaded 3rd
party Apps that kill Battery life. I know mine do :). Id have to say even with
all the issues and as a longtime gadget freak hands down the iPhone is the best
convergent tool I've ever had.

Subject: RE: iPhone and battery life

I've experienced a few problems with my battery life and I've set my mail to
pull every hour, although I leave 'push' on, turn off WiFi, turn off 3G, turn
off Bluetooth. These are the typical things that you can do to combat these
problems. However, something else that can happen is that applications can
sometimes hang and they continue to churn and use battery. I experienced this
over a Saturday where I checked my mail twice over the course of six hours and
had to recharge twice as well. You can try rebooting the phone and that will
usually clear up that issue. The other thing is that you may just have a bad
battery. If you can make it to an Apple Store and talk to one of their
'Geniuses', they can do a diagnostic on it and make sure that you don't have a
degraded battery. And I guess the other option is to get an external battery
case like the InCase Power Slider, but I'd start with the other stuff first.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Ok.. I have a Blackberry Bold. The other day I was messing around with my
son's iPhone and decided I would get one to see how it works.

So far, I like it very much... EXCEPT battery life SUCKS!

Took off full night charge this morning at 7am and already at 60%.

Those of you that have iPhones.. what are you doing to help this? I have wifi
off, Bluetooth off and just now set active sync to manual.
