You are going to hear alot about Fluke, of course...

I used a tester from a company called Test-Um, which I just found out was 
purchased by JDSU. The TestUm won't validate Cat-5e or Cat-6, but it will give 
you a good diagnosis of the problem for a fraction of the Fluke's price.

What kind of wire are you installing? Do you need to guarantee Cat-6a or Cat-5e 
compatibility? If you're having bad crimps, maybe you should look at a new 
crimper? The usual questions about using solid cable with stranded RJ-54 ends 
apply, but I suspect you're doing that correctly.
