Isn't there an add-on for Visio for network discovery?

Has anyone seen any low cost, open source or coded any sort of webpage
that could be a quick and easy visual representation of your network?
We had a switch go down this morning and it would have been nice for my
Help Desk staff to look at a webpage and see that the switch was not
responding to pings so they at least had a heads up to the possible
network issues.
