Corrupted Profiles was - Send shortcut to desktop

I recently saw several cases come in where users could login to AD and their computers, then after they were logged in and when they tried to go out to the Internet through our Proxy servers(which uses their AD id/pw via pass through to our LDAP) they kept locking out their AD id.  It seemed like something was corrupted and we used the lockout tools with eventcombmt - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7AF2E69C-91F3-4E63-8629-B999ADDE0B9E&displaylang=en

 

but couldn't find the offending source of the lockout.

So we ended up deleting the profile and having the user log back in which fixed it.

 

I guess corrupted profiles can do all kinds of things eh?

Copy their desktop, favorites and N2k files to a network location, delete their profile, do a disk cleanup, rebuild their profile and copy the files back, I doubt it is worth troubleshooting.

I realize this is the NT Admin list, not the XP list, but Iÿÿ™ve asked there and am getting deafening silence. J On my machine (and pretty much every other machine in my network) one of the options when you right-click and selecÿÿâÿœsend toÿ€ is ÿÿœdesktop (create shortcutÿÿ€. However, one useÿÿ€™s machine does not have that option.ÿÿâÿ™m wondering if there is aÿÿ€œpowertooÿÿ€ or something like that that I need to install on his machine. All desktop machines in my network are XP Pro.
