It's not whether we could reduce the whole of North Korea to a smoking radioactive cinder in retaliation to an attack by them, it's the potential for escalation that could turn the whole world to a smoking radioactive cinder. There's too many people around the world, including some here in the US, that would willing condemn billions of people to death in the service of their particular nation or religion.
