"Copy to another home NAS style system" seems to be the general answer. You can just use Unison or rsync or ROBOCOPY or whatever. Some of the NAS boxes expose their OS, which let you install/run such tools natively, which lets you run sync protocols over the wire, which can speed things up considerably.
