Has anyone every done a comparison of the various LDAP servers out there?
* Apache Directory Server
* Apple Open Directory
* CA Directory from CA, Inc. (formerly eTrust Directory)
* eB2Bcom View500
* 389 Directory Server (formerly Fedora/Red Hat Directory Server)
* IBM Tivoli Directory Server
* Mandriva Directory Server
* MXMS, from Atos Origin
* M-Vault, from Isode Limited
* Microsoft Active Directory
* Novell eDirectory
* OneLDAP An LDAP gateway to standard protocols like POP3 and IMAP.
* OpenDS
* OpenLDAP
* Openwave LDAP Directory Server
* Oracle Internet Directory
* Penrose - a Java-based Virtual Directory Server.
* Siemens DirX
* SIDVault
* Sun Java System Directory Server
* tinyldap
I'm relatively new here, and have heard that a number of our in-house
applications are using non-Microsoft LDAP implementations (more than one
vendor), no information as to why that decision was made. From what I have
heard, it's a mess. I have a feeling there will eventually be discussions
regarding this and I'd like to push for using Active Directory or AD LDS.
But, I've never done a comparison of the others that are out there.
I'd be interested in hearing others that have gone through this before.
Thanks,
