Subject: Removing primary AD server or PDC from domain?

Hey guys..

We have hit a new one here that we are not familiar with and have been doing
some research. We have some thoughts based on the research but wanted to
bounce of the group to see further input.

We have an environment that has 2 locations. They had 2 Windows 2003
servers at one location and 1 at the second location. One of the servers at
the primary location was acting as the role holder for AD and PDC basically.
That server went offline and cannot be recovered. That being the case the
other 2 servers are having issues replicating and such.

>From experiance, we are familiar with DCpromo and such but the issue is we
cannot DCpromo from a server that is not there.

Our goal is to transfer or assign the roles to one of the existing servers
to allow us to address the network issues. We are trying to do this without
building a new domain and having to reconfig user systems and servers.

As stated, we are wrapping up research so wanted some input..

Thanks all.
