I use sAlive in my datacenter and remotely manage/monitor dozens of clients 
servers and services. It works well, is a little 'techy' to setup. You have to 
know where all the settings and time setups are etc. The new version supports 
RRD for graphing if you want to send the data back to some rrd tools.

Definitely heard of it, but I don't believe it's available for
Windows. It's also pretty complex - as is any decent NMS package.

I've also heard of JFFNMS, and a couple of others in that space - OSS,
does not run on Windows, but will monitor it well, often requiring an
agent.
