As 
an avid fan of TOS, I can honestly say I never saw any reference other than a 
few episodes where Uhura showed possible interest in Spock, but never the 
reverse and never went any farther than her being “mind-controlled” and 
expressing that lust.

haven’t seen TOS for a long time, but there were a lot of people saying that it 
was hinted at in the earlier episodes. Although the implication was that it was 
at the strong interest stage rather than the making like bunnies 
stage.
