I have a custom tool with hundreds of rules for AD for things I check/evaluate based on best practices and also things I see at customers. It's a list I've been adding to for years. I've also got a pretty good list of business/semi-technical questions to ask that make a lot of difference in the outcome of the report.
Microsoft has tools for both products that likewise check hundreds and hundreds of things. Not an answer to your question directly, but, perhaps an idea on scope of this. I'd suggest rather than thinking tools you think first about scope and goals of the engagement. What tools do you guys like, prefer etc when you have to go into a client site and do an assessment of their environment?
