Yup - I still work in the legal vertical. Some firms still use
WordPerfect but most of them have abandoned it. Corel hit another dicey
patch with versions 11 and 12 and that chased a few other loyalists off
to Word.

The other issue is electronic filing with the courts. The courts will
nearly all accept .PDF format, and some will also accept Word format.
Not many accept WordPerfect format.

Critical mass and all that.

I worked in legal vertical for about 10 years. They didn't give up
Wordperfect without a lot of kicking and screaming. They were mostly
forced into it by their corporate clients that wanted document
interchangability.

You can do reveal codes in Word. It's odd but I've done it. I'd have
to dig up my notes to figure out how I did that. I don't recall it
being a basic setting.

Maybe, but WordPerfect 8 dit show up until 1997 or so. By then they
were already fighting from a hole.

the *first* port of WP to windows was a push to GUI and WYSIWYG ... but
even the Corel Suite with WP8 was better than Word in my opinion ... and
I *still* miss the Reveal Codes feature

* maybe I disliked Word because it was so different from WP and what I
had been used to, a whole new learning curve ... for my 76 year old
Dad, I still have him using Corel Suite 8 with WordPerfect because it
works, and is easy for him ... YMMV

Actually it was a superior word processor application until Microsoft
Windows 3.x ushered in the era of Windows-based applications and the
first Windows versions of WordPerfect were absolutely dreadful.

WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS was a thing of beauty. WordPerfect 5.2 for
Windows was a steaming pile.

In my opinion.

IMNSHO WordPerfect was a superior word processor application before
Microsoft's marketing agression stomped on them to get Word market share
