I lurk most of the time, and infrequently contribute, but this is a good source of info. Usually, good use of the SUBJECT line is all that is needed to keep me from "turning the volume down". When I've requested help here, it always comes quickly. I'm on the Exchange list as well, and while a little less "noisey" it's a good one as well. Long live both lists!
