Just googled it.  Ouch.  (I won't say what it is - might ruin it for the
rest).  I am surprised this could even be done!

  You're all right in that I was aiming to restart my USB controller.
(It had a port that had "gone dead", and I wanted to avoid rebooting
my workstation, since I had a bunch of stuff running.)
