And that may handle the issue with PSTs. I dunno. I don't claim to be a SMB expert. I just know that that is the declared reason for not supporting PSTs on SMB shares.

Samba implements locking of arbitrary byte ranges. Or it did back in 2002. QuickBooks used them, which is how I encountered it.
