I'll bet it only happens when you're using the touchpad.  See these threads for

You might consider getting a Logitech VX Nano or Anywhere MX mouse, both of 
which have tiny USB dongles that can be left in your machine -- unlike mouse 
mouse dongles, they only stick out a few millimeters.
