I understand the desire for native tools. In this case, I think you'll discover that 'findstr' is much better than 'find' - they're both native.
However, both vbscript and powershell are also native (mostly - it depends on how you view powershell, and whether you have anything older than Win2k or XP) and much more capable than either of the above.
