In a way that is not a simple question to answer as it depends on the
software version on your BCM.

Generally speaking you will be best off sticking with Nortel phones.

If your BCM software is new enough you *might* be able to use any SIP
phone you like, but I wouldn't recommend it - with most IP phone systems
a SIP phone has the same level of functionality as a $5 analog handset.
Cisco phones with the SIP firmware fall into that category.

Anything else that's intended for another phone system in an absolute
and emphatic NO. Cisco phones with the SCCP firmware fall into that
category.
