Ahh... I sent it on to Sunbelt Support when I got in this morning and
white-listed the hosts file by name and path. One feature I've seen on other
antivirus products that I wish Sunbelt would implement -- the ability to
tell the antivirus to ignore a particular detection from within the results.
i.e. right-click on a particular detection, the hosts file in this case, and
tell it "always allow." I hate that I have to manually go into Vipre and
tell it to allow a particular application/file.

I think a stupid heuristic detection by VIPRE.
Malware many times inject the host file with 127.0.0.0 and a bounce of
legitimate security sites

Oggetto: Vipre blocking access to "hosts" file???

I use SpyBot Search & Destroy's hosts file to block known bad sites.
Suddenly overnight, Vipre Enterprise is logging the Hosts file as "malware
traces." Anyone else seeing this????
Any idea how to fix this, other than white-list it?
