they are good for a minimum baseline ... I wouldn't ever consider one of these certs alone as any significant expertise, but along with work experience helps to show a base level of competency at least. For the cost of a self-study book and the test, probably worth it, but if you need a class, or series of classes to pass, then maybe not.
