Just to let anyone know who might come across the same issue - had some problems with security-group-filtered GPOs failing to apply on my 2008 R1 Citrix servers and Windows 7 VDI workstations. I was getting a really helpful error in RSOP showing *"group policy failed due to the error listed below and failed to log resultant set of policy information*" with nothing listed after it. After some desperate digging, I came across the above MS article that seemed to be related enough for me to try it ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976399 ), and after applying it on my 2008 R2 DCs and Win7 workstations, everything is now working as it should.
